It’s imperative that a human repeated insult patch test (HRIPT or RIPT test) is administered before launching a product that will encounter the skin. CPT℠ is committed to both our clients and their consumers. A Repeated Insult Patch Test will provide the initial feedback regarding a formulation’s potential to cause primary irritation and/or sensitization to the skin and minimize the risk of potential reactions for the consumer, ensuring our clients’ success.
Standard Human Repeat Insult Patch Test (HRIPT) is a method for evaluating a product’s potential to cause primary irritation and sensitization through repeated exposures, followed by a challenge phase to test for an allergic response on a panel of subjects that are representative to your customer base.
Sensitive Skin Repeated Insult Patch Test (SSHRIPT) utilizes subjects who have self-perceived sensitive skin (SPSS) and can be used to identify products which trigger the sensations that subjects with Self Perceived Sensitive Skin experience. These unpleasant sensations can range from stinging, burning, tingling, pain etc. Sensitive skin can appear normal or be accompanied by erythema, and can affect all parts of the body.
With CPT SPSS Verify℠ each subject must complete a questionnaire developed specifically to qualify the subject for this test. This qualification process is documented each time that the subject participates in an SSHRIPT. This questionnaire is an assessment tool to identify those subjects which are presently sensitive to different types of physical and environmental factors, so that they are screened and qualified properly to participate.
Both panel types follow a similar protocol. All RIPT panels can be comprised of 50, 100 or 200 subjects, depending upon the client’s criteria for calculating their products’ risk assessment. CPT℠ initiates panels weekly at both of our Patch Test locations. Ready to start your panel? Learn more on our site!
