PhotoAllergy Study
If you are eligible for the study and you choose to participate, you will:
Testing Procedure: Subjects will be required to report to the photobiology lab for five (5) days per week for a total of twenty (20) visits in a five-week period.
Weeks 1 – 3
Day 1: 6 Patches applied to left side of back 5-10 minutes
(Week 1, Day 1: Consenting, Exposure to UV light for MED determination) – 20 - 25 minutes
Day 2: Patches removed and 3 patch areas (1 of 2 patches for each test material) exposed to UV light – 5-15 minutes
Day 3: 6 Patches applied – 5-10 minutes
Day 4: Patches removed, and 3 patch areas exposed to UV light - 5-15 minutesDay 5: Evaluation of the test sites – 5 minutes
Week 4 Rest period
Week 5
Day 1: Challenge Phase – 8 patches applied to right side of back– 5-10 minutes
Day 2: Patches removed, and 4 patched areas will be exposed to UV light - 30-45 minutes; Days 3-5: All sites will be evaluated - 5 minutes
