Water Back Study - Skin Type I, II or II
If you are eligible for the study and you choose to participate, you will:
Day 1: Qualification
Visit time: ~15-20 minutes
Subject fills out MED/ ITA consent
An ITA is when a technician determines a subjects skin color in terms of numbers using a colorimeter
Technician will draw one box on subjects back and subject will go on the lamp for approximately 1 minute to determine an MED which is the smallest dose of sunlight required to cause redness
Day 2: Testing
Visit time: ~4-5 hours
The MED site is evaluated. If no redness is seen or there is a lot of redness, the subject may be disqualified.
If qualified, subject will complete a study consent form.
The technician will draw 4 boxes on subjects back. Application of 2 products will take place.
After at least 15 minutes of dry time, the subject goes on lamp for a short amount of time
Subject goes into tub for 20 minutes, dries for 15 minutes (4x)
Once subject is done in the tub, another product will be applied
Subject will go on lamp
Subject is free to leave after time on lamp complete
Day 3: Evaluation & Pay
Subject comes back the next day at the same time to have their back evaluated
Subject receives the compensation check
Must wait 3-4 weeks to perform another sunscreen study

*If this is your first sunscreen water, static, photo tox and photo allergy study, or you have not done one of these Photobiology studies in over a year, you must requalify for which you will receive an additional $20 upon successful completion.
