Photo Allergy Back Study
If you are eligible for the study and you choose to participate, you will:
Testing Procedure: Subjects will be required to report to the photobiology lab for five (5) days per week for a total of twenty (20) visits in a five-week period.
Weeks 1 – 3 Day 1: 10 Occluded Patches applied to left side of back 5-10 minutes
(Week 1, Day 1: Consenting, Exposure to UV light for MED determination) – 20 - 25 minutes
Day 2: Patches removed and 5 patch areas (1 of 2 patches for each test material) exposed to UV light – 10-15 minutes
Day 3: 10 Patches applied – 5 minutes
Day 4: Patches removed and 1 patch area exposed to UV light – 10-15 minutes
Day 5: Evaluation of the test sites – 5 minutes
Week 4 Rest period
Week 5 Day 1: Challenge Phase – 12 occluded patches applied to right side of back– 5-10 minutes
Day 2: Patches removed and 6 patched areas will be exposed to UV light – approximately 1 hour
Days 3 – 5: All sites will be evaluated – 5 minutes

If this is your first water or static study, or you have not done a water or static study in over a year, you will be required to requalify for which you will receive an additional $15 upon successful completion of the study.
